Cheshire West and Chester Council Skills and Employment Service

The Skills and Employment Service provides all the help you need to find and keep a job. If you have barriers to employment - for example a medical condition or living in a rural location - our employment support projects can assist. If you are looking for some training before starting to look for work, our Hubs host training courses in maths, English, IT and vocational skills.

Employment Support projects - Cheshire West and Chester

Cheshire West and Chester Council’s Skills and Employment Service offers several projects which provide all the support you need to find and keep a job. If you have a physical or mental health condition or any other barrier to work, we can help.

Cheshire West and Chester Skills and Employment Hubs

Skills and Employment Hubs (previously called Work Zones) are the "front door" to Skills and Employment services. Hubs offer a range of services to support you in identifying and developing your job hunting and employability skills.

Chester Skills and Employment Hub

New Leaf Warrington

Funded by UKSPF this initiative supports residents of Warrington to overcome barriers to employment with 1-1 wraparound support to help you to move nearer to employment and ensure you have all the tools to job search independently or to move into work or training.

Work and Health Programme North West

Work and Health provides support for those unemployed people with health conditions or disabilities. It is also designed to help those individuals who have been out of work for a long time as well as those who might need some specialist support.

The UKSPF is a programme set up by the UK government in place of the European Social Fund and forms part of its Levelling Up agenda. The People & Skills strand has received £1.6m of funding for investment to help improve the lives of Cheshire East residents through 3 programmes of support:

“Springboard are delivering ‘Skills Courses’ including Basic, Life and Career Skills. These courses are tailored to local employer skills needs and aim to address the mismatch between the skills of local job seekers and the skills required for jobs.. Courses include Health & Social Care, Cleaning, Hospitality and Retail, Security, ESOL etc and are available across the Cheshire East area.

Fedcap, are delivering its ‘Inspiring Futures Programme’ offering employment support for those who are economically inactive and have a long-term health condition or disability and would like support to get back into the workplace. Fedcap offer a wrap around support service that includes vocational profiling, employer engagement and in-work support. “We understand the difficulties people with health conditions and disabilities face when looking for work. Our tried and tested approach assesses each person on what they can do. Helping to uncover your talents, we can promote you and your skills to local employers and support you to secure paid or voluntary roles”

Free Maths courses for adults

Cheshire East Council are working with training partners to deliver the Government’s Multiply programme. Multiply can provide a range of different courses to help you to be more confident with maths. Maths can help you in everyday life, such as helping children with homework and budgeting money. Improving your numeracy skills could help you to get a job, advance your career or prepare you for further study.
